My First Website Evaluation

The last entry for this term before the two weeks break, as well as the last entry for the year! On this last lab of the term(Week 7), we had to appraise a website. What we had to do was to select anyone of the websites we had the other time during week 3 and 4, and evaluate it according to a template format.

After weeks of searching the internet for resources and websites, now it is time for us to stay offline and reflect about what we had learnt from the sites. There is this particular site from my list which caught my attention the most - BellaOnline(http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art46361.asp).

As the first word of the site name, Bella, says, it already explains what the site is. It is a website community dedicated to women. The site lets the public write and put up their article of their interest. The visitors can get to read the articles for free. The webmasters of the site are also nice people who have thoughts for their visitors. They ensured that the visitors do not get annoying advertisements and that surplus revenues from the advertisements are donated to the charity organisations. All these, make this website stand out from the rest that I had in my list of resources.

So much on what the site has, the evaluation of this site is as complex. In it, we were supposed to evaluate the site according to a few subjects; Purpose, Coverage, Authority, Accuracy, Currency, Accessibility, Presentation and Arrangement, Usability and Overall.

Those subjects served as a guideline for us to give an appraisal to the site. My overall evaluation of the website, BellaOnline, was pretty good. I liked the idea and purpose behind the website, to create a community.
